Once considered lost, GITANA V has been recently spotted in Long Beach, California! Chapter 14 in Dick’s book is devoted to this 60′ footer, custom designed for Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The boat still has its original twin steering wheels, which were Dick’s major innovation at the time. Thanks to Tad Palmer for the photos!
The new owner of SAMPHIRE must have been surprised to run into David and Emily Carter, son and daughter of Dick Carter, on November 25th in the boat yard of West Mersey, England. SAMPHIRE, a Carter 39, was previously owned by Sammy Sampson, the Carter Offshore representative in England.
