Happy Birthday to our beloved father, grandad, husband, uncle, friend, skipper and yacht designer extraordinaire!!!
We love you very much!!
We’re adding yachts every day and we hope you’ll add yours!
It’s easy! Click on “Registry” in the main menu above. On the Registry page, you’ll see the yacht information form to fill out. Don’t worry if you don’t know everything about your boat. You can even upload a photo! We’ll take it from there to add your boat.
“Chapeau” to J. P. Riou for taking the initiative to research and compile an enormous amount of data on Carter yachts!
Many years ago, Dick and his family cruised the Greek islands and Turkish coast on a white Carter 33. We sailed into the harbor of the ancient village of Knidos and moored for the night. Up on deck the next morning, we were astonished to see an identical white Carter 33 moored right near us!
Since the book was released on Amazon it has already made it as far as Hawaii! Big thanks to Ellen Hocker for sharing these photos with her friend Mauricio Barbis, a veteran of trans-oceanic travels himself.
Dick presents the book to long time friend Sandy Weld. Sandy has been one of the most important figures in Dick’s sailing career and features countless times in the book. He is also the author of The Leading Edge, which details his experiences in ocean racing with Dick.
Big news! The first advance copy of Dick’s book has arrived. Here he is at his family’s summer house in the village of Cataumet, on Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, where all of his sailing began.
Once employed by Dick and now a successful yacht designer himself, Bob Perry writes of In the Golden Age:
“Beautifully illustrated with photos and technical drawings this has to be one of the very best books on yachts and yacht design I have ever read. It’s a fun book to read as it takes you, step by step through the world of designing racing yachts at the highest level.”
